Easy to Use
Matchopolis.com is easy to use and is primarily focused on allowing new members to embrace the services it offers, free of charge. This enables you to begin browsing through the personals with minimum fuss.
Search Functions
Searching on Metropolis is user-friendly. Once you've become a member, you are presented with a page that explains: ‘Matchopolis has several communities, each of which is independent of the others with their profiles, messages, etc. For an explanation of all the icons and buttons, click the help button.’
The main headings for these communities are dating, mature (dating and relationships for men and women over 50), and friends. Newcomers are encouraged to create separate profiles for each community. Each community includes a Message Center to manage all your existing conversations with others in that community. To start a new conversation, just click the send message button on someone else's profile.
Under dating, there are several searchable areas – new and updated. Singles arranged by the location you've specified, and a search facility where you can tailor your parameters by distance, UK-only (for instance), has a main profile picture, and new and updated first.
Clicking on any of the thumbnails will lead you to the profile. The profile contains personal information, a photo gallery, a private photo gallery (which you need their permission to access), and a screen where you can make notes about the person.
Safety & Security
Matchopolis customer service offers an FAQ page where you can generally find answers to the common issues that arise. Example: can I make my page more private? Answer: you can make your profile invisible to searches if you go into your accounts settings. Email verification is conducted as part of the registration process.
You can also complete a web form and provide feedback, especially if you have a bug to report or a problem not covered by the FAQs.
Summary
Matchopolis has a relaxed feel about it, and this is reflected in how easy it is to sign up and then search according to the type of relationship you are seeking. As a free dating resource, the only barriers to fully interacting with other members is that you have to earn their trust – to be able to view their private galleries for instance – and it is refreshing that it is done this way rather than you being required to subscribe to a payment system requiring your credit card details to progress.
If you are merely seeking new friends, you can enter the 'Coffee Zone' and get involved in friendly chat (or friendship-first chat, at least.) It is entirely up to you if you'd rather pursue someone more romantically by heading over to the dating or mature pages.
